Blog Anniversary Author Post, Excerpt + Giveaway: Candi Kay
It’s that time of year again. On Top Down Under is celebrating another year (8!) and Willy the elf is ready to come back out to play. Willy always gets his way.
This year’s upcoming instalment of the Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer series is all about Santa Claus. He’s not the man you’ve all been led to believe he is. Not even close. Of course, that’s a big secret to the outside world. If humans knew what he really looked like he’d never have a moment’s peace. If you saw the real Santa Claus, you’d see a handsome blond man who doesn’t look a day over thirty-five. The big and jolly rumors were spread so he could travel without being bothered when he leaves the North Pole.
His soon-to-be ex-wife – that would be Mary – is anything but the sweet old lady you probably think she is. She doesn’t know how to turn on an oven, much less bake those sugar cookies. Let’s just say she gives all new meaning to Santa’s Ho! Ho! Ho! That’s something he doesn’t say, by the way. We’re not sure where that came from. Hmm… maybe the truth about his wife isn’t that much of a secret after all. 😉
The little wifey was sent away a couple of years ago. There are some things a person can’t come back from. Mary Claus proved that when she caused irreparable harm to someone Santa held dear. Now she thinks she has a right to come back to the North Pole and pick up where she left off. What she doesn’t anticipate is Santa falling in love and maybe even finding the mate he’d long been denied. Throw in a few Willy the elf pranks and things don’t go quite as smoothly as she hopes.
You can check out the blurb and an excerpt from Santa Claus & His Unexpected Mate below. The excerpt is part of a conversation between Santa and Drew Lanzer (his love interest) after a specific threat has been made by Mrs. Claus. They’re discussing The Council’s possible punishment should she expose the North Pole’s secrets to the outside world.
To help celebrate On Top Down Under’s 8th anniversary and the upcoming release of the finale of the Willy the Kinky Elf series, I’m giving away an e-book copy of the winner’s choice from my catalog, a Santa Claus & His Unexpected Mate magnet, a Willy the Kinky Elf quote magnet, a keychain, tote bag, and two postcards telling everyone you’re on Santa’s naughty list. 😉 You can check out the giveaway on the Rafflecopter link at the end of this post. Entries close 10 days from post date.
Congrats to On Top Down Under and here’s to many, many more!
This giveaway runs for 10 days from Oct 21st. Good luck!
From the World of Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer.
The North Pole isn’t exactly as it appears in fairy tales. It has the elves and Santa and his reindeer, but Santa and Mrs. Claus aren’t the jolly couple the world believes them to be. The reindeer are all shape-shifters who transform into gorgeous beings in human form and are respected by all.
Santa Claus has everything except the one thing he craves most – a mate of his own. Forever told it wasn’t in the cards for him, he goes about his days longing for something he knows he can never have. Maybe Andrew Lanzer isn’t his fated mate, but he knows what he feels for the reindeer goes far beyond simple attraction.
Drew sees how Santa looks at him, but he’s not stupid. Santa’s wife may be gone now, but history has proven she’ll be back. Time and again. He’s hoping one sexual encounter will be enough to get him out of his system. What he doesn’t expect is for it to open the door to so much more.
When Mary Claus demands to be heard, the entire North Pole is thrown into chaos. With the man he loves and his newfound son by his side, Santa must fight harder than he’s ever fought before to rid the North Pole of her conniving presence once and for all. Along the way, he may even discover that what the Fates have always led him to believe might not be true after all. With help from Willy the elf and a few new allies, Santa Claus may finally get the happily-ever-after he’s only ever dreamed of.
Santa Claus & His Unexpected Mate cannot be read as a standalone. The finale of the Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer series, it contains characters and stories from each book that will be confusing to readers who have not read the series.
“None of this is your fault.”
“Don’t you see, Drew? Everything is my fault. My loneliness, my selfishness… hell, my damn dick caused this.”
“No, Mary caused this,” he says angrily. “Was she aware of the alternative had you not married her?”
“Yes. She’s always known.”
“Yet she chose to threaten to expose you anyway. She’s really that convinced you’ll take her back?”
“I won’t, Andrew. I swear it.”
“You do, don’t you?”
He wraps his arms around me and holds me close, the rest of the world disappearing around us. Several minutes later, he pulls back just far enough to look me closely in the eye.
“I swear I’ll never betray you, Santa. I don’t know what will happen with us a week from now, or hell, even a day from now, but I promise not to ever violate the trust you’ve placed in me.”
“I know. And I swear on all that I am that I’ll never betray you.”
He reaches up and wipes a tear off my cheek that I didn’t even know had fallen.
“Yes, I do.”
“I need to speak with her privately, Drew. I don’t want to, but I have to remind her of the possible consequences of her actions if she continues down the path she’s on.”
“I don’t like the thought of you having to deal with her, but I agree it needs to be done at some point.”
“You’re okay with me being alone with her?”
He pulls out of my arms and paces a few feet before turning to look at me, his pained expression breaking my heart a little.
“No, I’m not okay with it, but what can I say? Do I beg you not to do it because I don’t want that bitch anywhere near you? Or because I know what she’s done to you in the past? How she affects you? It’s not my place to say anything one way or another. You’re not my boyfriend, my partner. I know you’re not my mate, so I have no voice here. We can’t even really call what we have a relationship other than a sexual one.”
“Then what do you think we are, Andrew?”
“I don’t know,” he whispers.
I pull him back into my arms. “What we are is something special, something I’ve longed for my entire life.” He tries to pull away but I hold him tighter. I feel him sniffling and my heart hurts knowing I’m the cause of it. “What’s wrong, sweetheart? I swear I won’t take her back.”
“I know you won’t, but it’s so unfair, you know?” he mumbles into my shoulder. “I want to be with you. I know you want to be with me. I feel it every time we’re together.”
“But we both know that we won’t, can’t, last forever.”
“Do you feel I should let you go?” I ask him.
His eyes come up to meet mine. “No.”
“Do you honestly believe you could care for another man the way you do me?”
“I don’t think it’s possible. I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything, anyone, in my life.”
“I feel the same for you, Drew.”
“You loved your wife.”
I shake my head. “No, baby. I loved the thought of being wanted, needed, of not being lonely. What I felt for her was never love. I know that now. I need you to believe that.”
“That’s all I ask.”
