Briar Pendelton is new to Lassiter, and he’s determined to get into Alpha Tau.

Even if that means lying about already having passed his LSAT and doing stupid pledge stunts like dressing as a sorority girl. Besides, he’s always looked killer in a skirt.

Casey Hill has been pledge master of Alpha Tau for two years. Keeping a bunch of pledges in line is a bit like herding cats, but Casey’s got it down to a fine art.

When Briar sashays into their fraternity with eyeliner, attitude, and legs for miles, Casey is thrown for a loop—in the best possible way. Except what happens when Briar literally can’t make the grade?

Uh oh.

The Amazing Alpha Tau Pledge Project is a lighthearted contemporary m/m romance containing college shenanigans, a pretty pledge selling candy, and a confused frat boy who discovers he’s a lot more heteroflexible than he thought he was. Or something.

Includes a bonus short story, “Make Up Sex.”

Review:

I listened to book #1, The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project,  and thought it was easy and pleasant listening, Nick J Russo nails the narration. It was also verrrryy sunshiney, but the characters just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I feel like maybe if I go back and re-listen to it now I might be more interested. It’s like I’m getting the vibe of this series. I have to admit I know so little about fraternity houses, I’m not American and we do things differently here. My knowledge started off at Delta Tau Chi – the antics of the fictitious, misfit, ratbag frat house in Animal House. Alpha Tau and its world is faaaarrrrr removed from Animal House, but times have changed. Although I suspect there is no fraternity like Alpha Tau. I do know one thing for sure, I was not this together at their ages. I was too busy partying at UNSW’s Roundhouse. A lot. Alpha Tau is incredibly inclusive, incredibly supportive, incredibly well behaved, incredibly, well… fabulously queer without even knowing for a hot minute that they were, or are. In this book, Casey lets his bi flag fly. Literally.

Even though I thought I might not come back to this series, I’m partial to a bit of cross dressing. I’m also quite partial to the mix these MCs promised. Briar and Casey are pretty much an opposites attract story. Casey is this even-keeled, pleasant, helpful and kind college pledge wrangler, not really a title, and Briar is this prickly pledge who seems to want to be anywhere but Alpha Tau, so why is he even there on pledge week?

There’s a good mix of the MCs leading the story, it’s theirs after all, but with the secondary’s giving humour and/or moral support.

I liked the banter between the Casey and Briar. I liked the up yours attitude Briar had going on – there are reasons – but at the same time he has a confidently flirty, teasing side to him as well. Together they work. I also enjoyed Marty, he of the insightful observations together with his humorous belief that there is no such thing as oversharing. On the back of this book, # 3, and that Marty is an MC in the 2nd book, and because Nick J Russo, I’ve grabbed series book #2 to listen to now.
