Flynn Morris needs a Daddy.
At least, that’s what his flamboyant and highly opinionated best friend, Tate, has decided. Flynn himself isn’t so sure. He’s never had a boyfriend, much less considered something as kinky as having a Daddy. In fact, he’s been perfectly happy with his life exactly as it is. He likes the calm, orderly accounting classes he’s taking at college, loves living with Tate in one half of the duplex Tate’s protective big brother, Braxton, owns, and – even though Tate likes to complain about Braxton living right next door and always being up in their business – Flynn feels safe and secure knowing Brax is always right there, looking out for them.
But none of that can last forever. Once Flynn graduates and they all go their separate ways, he’s going to have to start adulting all on his own. Unless he goes along with Tate’s plans for him and actually finds himself a Daddy…
Braxton Hart needs to save Flynn from Tate’s craziness. Again.
Brax has always had a soft spot for his little brother’s best friend, and who could blame him? Flynn is fucking adorable. Shy and sweet and a little bit awkward, the gentle ginger isn’t at all as fiery as his red hair would imply. In fact, he’s much more likely to follow someone else’s lead. Usually Tate’s, who has a tendency to steamroll Flynn into the craziest of plans. Like his latest one – finding Flynn a “Daddy” at Kinkmas, a singles event sponsored by the kinky dating app, Cuffd.
And seriously, Kinkmas? What even is that? Brax may not be either kinky or gay, but he’s also not about to trust some stranger to step in and take care of Flynn the way he deserves. And that means that this time, Brax doesn’t just have to save his favorite ginger from another one of Tate’s crazy plans, he’s about to get sucked into actually helping…
A Ginger for Kinkmas is a bi-awakening, best-friend’s-brother gay romance featuring a shy ginger virgin who really prefers to have someone else in charge, an overprotective “big brother” who realizes his feelings aren’t actually very brotherly after all, and holiday dreams that come true for everyone. With a little help, of course.
A Ginger for Kinkmas is part of the Naughty or Nice Season Three multi-author series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are so many Daddies and boys finding their happily ever afters, why not grab them all?
Review –
This was so freaking cute. Until this book, I’d only read one other by this author, All Dolled Up, that was my #1 favorite book of 2021. I honestly don’t know why I’ve not read more because I loved that one so much. Well, now I’ve read two, and I’ve loved the second one every bit as much as the first one, probably more.
Flynn and his best friend Tate are roommates in half of a duplex owned by Tate’s brother, Braxton. Brax lives on the other side. He’d bought the property as an investment, but decided to fix it up and move in, allowing Tate and Flynn to live in the other one. Brax has always been protective of Tate and Flynn, especially Flynn. Flynn didn’t have a good life growing up, and Tate and Brax’s family basically adopted him. He’s so close to them that he calls their mother Mom without hesitation.
I LOVED their mother.
Brax has a Tinder date over one night when he hears a loud bang next door. Leaving the girl, who’d already been rude about the music playing on the other side, Brax rushes into his brother’s apartment and freezes. There’s glitter everywhere, some furniture has been knocked over, and sweet and innocent Flynn is showing his ass – literally. In the midst of the craziness, he learns that Tate has begun what he calls The Plan. What’s the plan, you ask? To find Flynn a Daddy because Tate plans to move to New York in the coming months to pursue costume design. Flynn is super quiet and shy. He’s very smart, but he likes having decisions taken away from him. Until now, he’s had Tate, and even Braxton, to look out for him. Oh, he’s perfectly capable of taking care of himself. He just prefers not having to.
I liked following someone else’s lead. I liked being able to be part of things without having to be the center of them. And I liked it that my bestie knew me well enough to tell other people my opinions so I didn’t have to.
~~~
If I could find a Daddy who looked at me like Braxton did? I’d know for sure he’d want to keep me.
Tate, on the other hand, is hilariously flamboyant and impulsive. He had me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. His way of finding Flynn a Daddy is signing him up for a singles Christmas celebration (Kinkmas) put on by the kink dating app Cuffd.
For Brax, that’s a big hell no. Sweet little Flynn does not need to be getting mixed up with kinky strangers. After getting rid of the Tinder date, who turned out to be a homophobic bitch, he’s really disturbed by what Tate is trying to do for his best friend. Flynn is a shy sweetheart, and while Tate’s always looked out for him, Brax feels like he’s taking things a little too far this time.
Twinks were a thing and I was pretty sure Flynn was the most adorably perfect one ever invented.
Suddenly, ‘The Plan’ is all Brax can think about. He’s always loved Flynn, they even say the words, but that’s a brotherly/family love. Now he’s seeing his brother’s best friend as something that’s nowhere near brotherly. He’s never been with a guy before, he’s honestly never wanted to be, and now he’s not happy over the thought of somebody else putting their hands (or other parts) on his Flynn. And it seriously doesn’t help that there’s a tiny pair of booty shorts that Tate made for Flynn to wear to Kinkmas. Again, that’s a big hell no for Braxton. Nobody will be seeing Flynn in those tiny shorts except him, damn it. 😉
As for Flynn, he’s always crushed on his best friend’s big brother. It’s kind of hard to hide because he blushes a lot when Brax is around. Even so, Brax is safe because he’s straight.
Well, about that…
With each new part of ‘The Plan’ that Brax learns about, he’s finding himself freaking out even more over anybody getting near Flynn, aka Gingersnap. When he sees Tate kiss Flynn to ‘practice’ since Flynn’s never had a real kiss, he doesn’t handle it too well. Tate and Flynn are mored grossed out than anything else over the kiss – they’ve never seen each other that way – but it has Braxton wanting him to show Flynn a true, proper kiss. That true, proper kiss turns both their worlds upside down.
“Tell him, Flynn. You want someone who will actually rock your world, right? You don’t want dry little grandma kisses. You need a Daddy who makes you want to climb him like a tree and beg for his wood.”
~~~
“You can be Flynn’s practice Daddy until we find him a real one, okay?”
After a serious late night existential crisis, including watching a whole lot of gay Daddy kink porn, Braxton finally comes to the conclusion that the only Daddy he’d ever accept for his Flynn is him. Now he has to convince Flynn that’s he’s being serious. Tate’s convinced that his big brother is giving his bestie hope for something that won’t be happening, so it takes more than a little bit to do that convincing.
A little spanking session helps. 😉
I absolutely loved this book. I loved sweet and shy Flynn. I loved older, responsible big brother Braxton. You can’t not love Tate and his hilarious and crazy ways. Then there’s Mom, who was perfect. She never cared one way or another that Tate and Flynn were gay. There’s no weirdness over Brax coming out, or him being in love with Flynn and vice versa. She doesn’t even get weirded out over her sons and Flynn’s kinks. Granted, they don’t go into graphic detail, but everybody’s comfortable enough to talk about it without worrying about Mom acting silly about it.
Tate wasn’t just trying to find his best friend a Daddy. He may have found one of his own. And if anybody reading this review knows if Tate has his own book, can you please let me know? I’ve kinda/sorta checked out the author’s other books, but didn’t see anything. Of course, I could’ve missed it, so I’ll be looking again. If ever there was a character who needed his own man, it’s Tate. That man has already been introduced (that damn vegan! *snort*), so I need to read their story sooner rather than later.
Overall, this is a fantastic book. It made me laugh a lot, and there were more than a few ‘aww!’ moments. I loved Braxton and Flynn together.
