Blurb –

He’s the most hated and dangerous man in town. The only good thing he’s ever done for this world is his sons. That probably won’t change.

Beau is the biggest weapons dealer on the west coast. He built an empire from the ground up. Having the world at his fingertips, and giving the world to his family, cost him everything. He went from having a beautiful life to having a drug-addicted wife and son. Then he lost it all, except the money that brings no warmth. He’s bitter and done. That’s not a good combination for someone as deadly as him. There’s only one person who doesn’t fear him or look at him with disgust. Kylo has no idea how much danger he’s in.

Kylo lives in his head. Always has. For the most part, that’s fine. He doesn’t have any responsibilities, so he’s free to be his Little self. The only area he’s lacking is his love life. There aren’t many men out there searching for someone strange like him. It’s one thing to be a Little, but to also be odd is too much for most people. Beau looks at him in a way no one else ever has. It’s too bad the guy could get him killed. He’s not the first.

King Daddy is the sixth book in Charity Parkerson’s Little Lost series where adorable, sometimes bratty, and scared Littles meet the men of their dreams.

Review –

Full disclosure – I have not read the first 5 books of this series. I’m aware that had I done so, my rating would possibly be much lower because of things Beau did in those books. I started at the end because I’ve recently read Dancer (Killers Inc., #1), and I wanted to see how Rain and Austen met. I was also interested in Beau and Kylo because they’re in that one quite a bit. With Edge’s story being next, and his love interest being Beau and Kylo’s bodyguard, I wanted to at least be a little more familiar with the characters. I’m usually not one to read books out of order, but I’ve found myself doing that a lot lately.

My entire review is based on this book, not the ones before it, though I feel the author did an outstanding job of explaining things without overloading the story with unnecessary details. I’ve already started on Short-term Daddy (Little Lost, #1), so I’ll be catching up soon enough, and then I’ll go back to the Killers Inc. series.

The book starts with Beau seeing Kylo in a parking lot struggling with his bags of groceries. Beau has his bodyguard pull over, and they help him get inside his apartment. Once there, Beau discovers that Kylo has a very recent stab wound. As in, within the hour. He’s literally still bleeding while acting like nothing happened. Beau jumps into Daddy mode. He contacts his doctor – that would be Austen – and does everything he can to ensure he’s okay. Kylo and Beau had met at Beau’s son’s kink club a few months back. Since that moment, Beau’s not been able to stop thinking about him. Seeing him hurt does something to his cold, dark heart.

Kylo is a Little.

Beau is a Daddy through and through.

Kylo’s injury starts something between the two men. Kylo had a bad childhood. While he never did without financially, his mother, a famous singer, was absent. Beau had his own issues including an addict wife who committed suicide and two sons, one of which was also an addict. The more I read, and the more truths that came out about Beau, the more I’m absolutely certain that had I read the others first, I probably wouldn’t have even read this one. Beau is NOT a good guy in any way, shape, or form… except with sweet Kylo.

Beau tries to pull away, but he simply can’t. Kylo’s dealing with his own demons, positive that Beau won’t be sticking around. Not only will Beau be staying, but he’s already planning on forever.

Then there are his sons, Boone and Banks. I don’t know everything about their stories, but I know enough to know that all harsh feelings they have for their father are 100% justified.

Regardless of all that, I loved Beau and Kylo together. Both were broken in their own way, but together, they were whole. It was seriously a beautiful love story. Well, about as beautiful as a love story can be when one of the men is a major criminal anyway. 🙂

It was nice seeing Austen and Rain meet the first time. I also paid more attention to Mickey, Kylo’s bodyguard, because his story is #2 in the Killers Inc. series with Edge.

There’s a major age gap between Kylo and Beau, but I don’t know how many years. I know Kylo is 32, but I don’t remember Beau’s age being mentioned.

The title is explained in a sweet way. Beau wasn’t King Daddy because he was the biggest arms dealer on the west coast.

I love the cover. It’s rare for a cover model to fit the way I see a character. This one definitely does.

This isn’t like most Daddy/Little books I’ve read over the years. You know Beau is a Daddy, and it’s very obvious that Kylo is a Little. There are playrooms and stuffed animals, etc. What I didn’t see in this story was major overkill when it came to the Daddy/Little relationship. There was no major power imbalance. Both men were strong in their own right. I loved that the author didn’t write Kylo as helpless. He was every bit as strong as Beau, just in a different way.

Overall, I loved this book. This is only my second by Charity Parkerson, and I’m already a fan. Unlike most authors these days, she doesn’t drag stories out so they’re 350+ pages. She doesn’t need all those pages to tell a good story. That makes me want to go back and read everything in her catalog.

5 redemption stars.
